A tilt-and-turn window combines a turn function (fully open) with a tilt position (slightly open). The tilt position is ideal for basic ventilation without creating a draft or burglary risk.

In the tilt position, the window is open only a few centimeters at the top. This allows conditioned air to flow out and fresh air to flow in, without having a large window wide open.
For a loft bedroom, a tilt-and-turn window is often sufficient to provide night ventilation, especially in combination with a ventilation grille and mechanical exhaust elsewhere in the home.
