The dormer with a slightly sloping flat roof is the most common variant in the Netherlands. The shape is well-suited for straight facades, easy water drainage, and a simple construction method.

The flat roof always has a minimal slope — often around 1.5 to 2 % — so that rainwater flows towards the rainwater drainage. The roof is usually finished with EPDM or bituminous roofing.
