Brede dakkapel
A wide dormer spans a large part of the roof width. It provides a lot of space and daylight, but places greater demands on the structure and the aesthetic review (welstand).

The wider the dormer, the more rafters or purlins are cut through, and the more load must be distributed via trimmer joists and beams. With very wide dormers, a steel beam may be necessary.
