A shifted ridge is a variant of the ridge raising where the ridge is not only raised, but also moved horizontally. This creates a largely straight facade with full standing height on one side.

On the side where the ridge is shifted to, a nearly vertical facade surface is created. The other side retains a — often gentler — sloped roof plane. Visually, the result is reminiscent of a mono-pitched roof on top of the old roof plane.
