Overheating in the loft is a summer problem caused by solar load on the roof surface and glass, combined with insufficient ventilation. Exterior sun shading and proper insulation are more structural solutions than cooling.

Measures in order of priority

  1. Exterior sun shading or sun control glazing.
  2. Proper roof insulation (mass effect).
  3. Night ventilation using tilt-and-turn windows.
  4. Mechanical extraction or heat recovery ventilation (HRV).
  5. Only as a last resort: air conditioning.
