Triple glas

Triple glass consists of three glass panes with two gas-filled cavities and offers the lowest U-values among standard building glass. It is mainly used in well-insulated new buildings and sustainability upgrades.

Properties

  • U-value of the glass package typically around 0.5–0.7 W/m²K.
  • High weight; requires a suitable window frame and fittings.
  • Light transmittance is slightly lower than with HR++.

For dormers, triple glass is considered if the general insulation level (roof, facades) is high. Without high-quality residual insulation, the effect on the energy bill is limited.
