The inside of a dormer is finished using a combination of batten framework, insulation, a vapour barrier, and sheet material. A neat finishing trim provides a flat surface and prepares it for plastering, painting, or wallpapering.

Sequence of work

  1. Install the batten framework square and plumb.
  2. Fit insulation tightly between the battens.
  3. Connect the vapour barrier foil airtight.
  4. Attach sheet material (plasterboard or MDF) and finish the seams.
